2024 has been a milestone year for 91视频 as it marked 100 years at the Waterloo Centre鈥攁 hub of creativity, learning, and community in the heart of London.鈥� 

Morley came to 61 Westminster Bridge Road in 1924 – moving from its previous home at the back of The Old Vic Theatre in Waterloo.    

Waterloo100 celebrations reflected the site’s rich history and Morley’s impact in adult education, the arts, and as an important part of the local community. 

Waterloo100: Past, Present, and Future

The year-long celebration began in March with Waterloo100: Past, Present, and Future. Alumni, students, staff, and stakeholders came together for an evening of guided tours, live performances, and exhibitions.聽

Highlights of the event included guided tours of Morley鈥檚 Emma Cons Hall and the Johnnie Harris Theatre, a student art showcase led by renowned artist Maggi Hambling and鈥痯rogrammes by Morley Radio, featuring music and news from 1924.聽

Celebrating Morley鈥檚 legacy

Throughout the year, 91视频 hosted a range of events – from exhibitions to educational initiatives, that reflected its 100-year legacy.鈥� 

Bushra Iqbal, Vice Principal (Curriculum Impact) and Centre Principal, Waterloo Centre for Adult Education said 

鈥�91视频 has been a leader in lifelong learning and equitable education since 1889. The move to Westminster Bridge Road in 1924 was made to broaden the college’s reach, enabling more people to access education. The Waterloo100 celebrations recognised this commitment 100 years on. We鈥檙e proud to continue this legacy, particularly through our current refurbishment plans, which will enrich the lives of Morley students for the next 100 years.鈥� 

A festive finale

The celebrations continued on 12 December with the Waterloo festive evening. This evening of music, art, and seasonal festivities brought the Morley community together one final time in 2024 to reflect on the year鈥檚 milestones. 

The night consisted of Christmas workshops from Morley鈥檚 tutors and a performance from the opera students, and dance workshops featuring line dancing and flamenco dancing.鈥� 

Looking ahead
